70 acres
4 - 6 Hunters
This woods is located in southeastern Pulaski County Indiana. The 70 acres is inter-connected with approximately 800+ forested acres. The land is in fairly close proximity to the Tippecanoe River and its drainage ( 3 miles). The Winamac Fish and Wildlife Area and the Tippecanoe State Park ( totalling 12,000 acres), are located about 8 miles to the north. Pulaski county is the least populated county in north central Indiana and I believe it's in the top five or so, least populated counties in the entire state. Bottom line: large farms, spread few and far between. Bruce Lake is 6 miles straight north and there are many other lakes within a twenty or thirty minute drive by rural county roads.
A little about myself. I worked for the Fish & Wildlife Service for nearly 14 years in the 70's and 80s. I was based out of Winamac F & W Area. I left the DNR in 88 and joined the US Forest Service two weeks later. I worked as a Forester and Wildland Firefighter on the Oregon Coast for 2 years, then transferred to Alaska with the USFS and I have lived and worked here ever since, for nearly 30 years.
I will never leave Alaska, but I have this woods that I bought in 77 and I'm still partial to it. It's prime habitat for deer and turkey hunting etc, and I have just been sitting on it all these years. I have just learned that leasing your land for hunting has become a viable way to earn income from your property.
My woods lies 2 miles north of the Cass Co line and 1 mile east of the Fulton Co line, in SE Pulaski County. It is located between 500E and 600E on 700 South. It lies on both sides of the road as I'm in the process of acquiring the woods across the road, (700 S is a one lane dirt road). I have managed my woods for decades for deer and turkey habitat as well as other game and non-game species.
I will assure you, that this is some (if not the best) deer and turkey hunting habitat in this part of the State and it hasn't had a lot of pressure because I have great neighbors, it's well posted and everyone knows that a Fish & Wildlife guy owns it. I haven't hunted it in 30 years, and to my knowledge few or none have.
