A fire sale on a great antelope hunt in Northern New Mexico with hunts beginning at the end of august, and there are only 3 vouchers available for this land and this outfitter has all 3 of them.
Guided Private Land Trophy antelope hunt with vouchers close but not in The NRA Whittington Center, Raton, New Mexico. Great time and great weather to stay at the Whittington Center or in Raton and hunt by Clayton New Mexico
The is a weekend guided hunt on 15,000 private acres. There are a lot of antelope to choose from and different from all non-New Mexico Antelope Blaze Orange is optional on private land for antelope in New Mexico.
Also, the season is earlier than all others so we call it the, “Bachelor herd” Season. It is great you don’t find a buck here and a buck there but instead the bucks are in bachelor herds so you can see all of the bucks in a 5 or 6 antelope herd. Then over the hill another herd and so on. Very few antelope are taken off of this ranch so the quality is exceptional.
This makes it quite easy to select the biggest buck. As a rule, everyone shoots a but from 13 to 16
Inch bucks depending on what they like on this 2-day hunt. It is unusual to have a hunt this low in New Mexico with this quality of antelope without requiring a $1000 trophy fee, but there isn't one on this one. I hunted this area a few years ago and took a buck that made the book, and the herd I saw had a number of big bucks in it.
You are welcome to shoot any antelope that you see. The guide will provide an estimated field score which is quite accurate on length after guiding this property for over 10 years. He also knows where the bigger bucks stay on the property. For the long range shooter this is excellent. If you are not a long range shooter you will find these antelope less weary because of the lack of pressure on these antelope. Either way tell thre guide what you are looking for and he will make it happen. Most hunting is druving the ranch roads
There is only a total of 3 vouchers available and hunting is during the 3 weekends from the beginning of the season and a week between to allow the biggest bucks to group up again and settle down and be easily glassed from a distance without spooking.
Weekend Hunting Date are:
8/25 & 26/18 Opening Day
9/1 & 9/2/18
9/8 & 9/9/2018
Booking is 50% down and the balance to get the voucher as standard in New Mexico. Since New Mexico allows less than 10% of the hunters to be non-resident this would take years to draw this hunt.
Every one should try hunting New Mexico once to see what it is like, and this is the lowest cost option available. The Voucher comes with the guided hunt and it is in a very good location for good horns. Many times, I have heard from hunters passing this ranch on the pavement about the stud antelope in this under hunted area. The landowner and the state are very restrictive about the number of antelope taken per year. In fact, New Mexico has more record book antelope entries than any other state, even Wyoming which has more antelope than people.
It isn’t a great area for big antelope by accident. Multiple year around water sources, good feed and 15,000 acres for them to spread out is a good recipe for antelope. With the limited number of antelope taken each year it changes from good to great.
This is a first come first serve hunt with only 3 hunts this year.
Prices for the hunt and voucher are usually $3000 for this hunt but this year these vouchers got shuffled under papers on a desk and for gotten in May when they usually sell out. This turned into a fire sale when I was contacted.
This outfitter is willing after a lot of squeezing to drop $1000 of this fire sale and sell them for only $1995. A Trophy antelope hunt in the state of New Mexico is always $2500 plus, look around.
